FAQ

1. What are the minimum system requirements for MeasurLink 11?

MeasurLink® 11 ships with Microsoft® SQL Server Express Edition 2025. This edition can be used to support a standalone or multi-machine workgroup installation. (We recommend 5 licenses or fewer when using SQL Server Express).
MeasurLink® 11 supports the following Microsoft® SQL Server Standard and Enterprise Editions: 2025, 2022, and 2019.

Operating System Requirements
All MeasurLink® 11 products are supported on all Windows 11 versions (not including IoT versions).

Hardware Requirements
These requirements are the minimum for the Windows® OS and may not provide optimum performance. In general, the more powerful the PC, the faster the response times!

  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor (review published requirements for the specific Windows 11 version in use)

  • 8 gigabytes (GB) RAM (more if multitasking)

  • 20 GB available hard disk space (more if also hosting the MeasurLink database on the same computer)

2. What licensing options are available for MeasurLink 11?

MeasurLink 11 offers two flexible licensing methods:

Single PC Activation (Activation Code)
Ideal for dedicated users and standalone workstations. The software is activated on a single computer with the Activation code and provides access to all purchased modules.

Floating / Concurrent License
Perfect for teams and organizations. Licenses are managed through a license server and can be shared by multiple users across the network. Any user can access any MeasurLink module, provided that a license is available. When a user disconnects, the license automatically becomes available for others.

3. Which measuring exchange protocols can be used in MeasurLink 11?

MeasurLink 11 natively supports Mitutoyo measuring equipment and can also integrate with a wide range of third-party devices and systems. Common data collection methods include:

  • RS-232 communication

  • File import

  • OPC UA

  • MQTT

  • QIF

  • Q-DAS formats

4. Can I expand or upgrade my MeasurLink system later?

Yes. MeasurLink 11 is designed to grow with your needs. Additional modules, workstations, and floating licenses can be added at any time, allowing you to start small and scale as your quality requirements evolve. Existing data and databases can be retained when upgrading, protecting your investment and ensuring continuity across software versions.
