Technical Sales Representative - North East, England

We are looking for a passionate and driven Technical Sales Representative to manage established existing customer accounts and develop new business opportunities within the region.

This is a field-based role focused on building relationships, understanding customer needs, and providing technical expertise to drive sales growth.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Visit clients and potential customers to identify needs and promote Mitutoyo products and services.
  • Be able to work individually and within a team environment.
  • Develop a strong understanding of metrology principles and applications.
  • Generate and qualify sales leads, working alongside specialists where appropriate.
  • Liaise with internal teams to follow up on opportunities and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare quotations, negotiate with clients, and close sales to meet or exceed targets.
  • Maintain accurate sales records and reports using company IT and CRM systems.
  • Support exhibitions, product demonstrations, and marketing events as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team on payment and client account queries.
  • Respond promptly to client inquiries regarding pricing, availability, and terms.

 

About You

  • Experience in a technical sales or field sales role (preferably within measurement, engineering, manufacturing, or industries).

Senior Metrologist - Coventry, England

Mitutoyo are looking for a Senior Metrologist to join our team based at our Coventry UKAS Laboratory to manage the day-to-day activities of the Calibration team and support the Head of Calibration in the calibration of various measuring instruments and gauges under UKAS regulations, whilst following set procedures and standards on behalf of internal and external customers.

 

The successful applicant will:

  • Support the Head of Calibration and oversee the daily activities of the calibration team.
  • Prioritise and monitor workflow through the Laboratory, whilst ensuring Mitutoyo is offering a premium Calibration service at a competitive price.
  • Lead and perform calibration of measurement instruments across mechanical, dimensional disciplines, developing, validating, and improving calibration methods and procedures.
  • Ensure efficient performance of the department, in accordance with internal procedures, ensuring traceability of measurements to international standards and UKAS requirements.
  • Assist with audits and development and maintenance of calibration procedures.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of terminology specific to our industry and be able to demonstrate an excellent working knowledge of dimensional metrology, overseeing measurement uncertainty analysis and maintain uncertainty budgets.
  • Review and approve calibration certificates, investigate measurement discrepancies and implement corrective actions
  • Manage and mentor metrology staff and technicians.
  • Support internal and external audits, including accreditation bodies.
  • Maintain and optimise laboratory equipment, software, and environmental controls.

 

About you:

  • Strong knowledge of measurement principles, instrumentation, and calibration techniques.
  • Experience with ISO/IEC 17025 or equivalent quality standards.
  • Proficiency in measurement uncertainty analysis (e.g., GUM methodology).
  • Experience with calibration management software and data analysis tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Be able to work independently representing Mitutoyo at our own sites and at customer premises.
  • Have good communication, organisational and I.T. skills.
  • Have a willingness to learn; be very well organised, presentable, flexible and self-motivated.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience would be an advantage.

 

This is a full-time position. 8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Fri
