INFORMATION OBLIGATION ACCORDING TO ARTICLE 33 OF THE REACH REGULATION

The REACH - Regulation (EC) [1907/2006] is the European Chemicals Regulation for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals.

It has to be implemented in all EU member states since January 1, 2007.

The inclusion of a substance on the "EU Candidate List" results in information obligations in the supply chain: If the limit value of 0.1% of a substance of very high concern (SVHC) is exceeded in an incorporated sub-product, information must be provided in accordance with Art. 33 (1) of the REACH Regulation - irrespective of the mass percentage in the overall product. In addition, sufficient information must be provided to enable the recipients of the articles to use the article safely.

Mitutoyo actively informs its business customers if a product contains a substance (SVHC) in order to fulfill the obligation according to REACH Regulation, Art. 33 (1).

Of course, it is part of Mitutoyo's basic development strategy to keep hazardous substances or substances suspected of being hazardous out of the products altogether, i.e. to replace them or not to use them in the first place.
